Refund policy

The JDM Book Club team want all of our customers to love and enjoy the rare JDM items we sell!

In general, you can expect all items to be in good and acceptable condition. However, please note that our books/brochures and other memorabilia have been sourced from Japan via. many different means; whether bought at auction, acquired from third party vendors or from private collections. In many cases these items are very old and may be subject to age related defects and the physical attributes of a long life. Second-hand books/brochures and memorabilia are NOT subject to refund or exchange (Unless meeting the below criteria), and may or may not be associated with: page discolouration, rips/tears, writing, stamping, folding, and/or marks of any kind.

The JDM Book Club team work incredibly hard to ensure that the items we offer do not disappoint. Each and every vintage book/brochure/memorabilia has been expertly sourced, closely inspected, thoughtfully handled, carefully cleaned and expertly packaged prior to dispatch.

We guarantee our books will be in the condition as described. Our autographs are guaranteed to be authentic and if found otherwise are returnable by original buyer for full refund without time limit.

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return provided your return request meets the following criteria.

You may request a return or refund if:

  • The item received is considerably different to its description and or product photos 
  • The item has a major defect/damage to item that was not stated in product description 
  • The item was damaged in transit

However, you cannot claim a return or refund for the following reasons: 

  • You changed your mind, and or don't want the item anymore
  • You found the item elsewhere and want to cancel your order 
  • You contributed to the problem through misuse/mishandling or wilful damage
  • Where item condition and or known defects were indicated in photos or the item description on the website. (Applies to creases and discoloration or any other defects noted in product descriptions)
  • A problem with our service was completely outside of the JDM Book Clubs' control


To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the email receipt or proof of purchase.

To start a return, you can contact us at jdmbookclub@gmail.com. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is damaged in transit or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

All orders are insured for their full value, if the shipping/postal company damages your package in transit please contact us immediately, and take photos and/or video so we can file a claim. If possible we will send you a replacement, or if unavailable; a refund. 

Tip: If the package appears to be damaged on the outside when delivered, please take a video on your phone of you opening the package (for the first time). This will help both of us pursue an insurance claim with the postal/courier company. 

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund. Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary. If you are shipping an item over $50, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, such as custom products (Special requested orders). Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item. Special orders are dealt with on a case by case basis and it is unlikely that any surprises will happen, as you can expect and relevant info about the item to be communicated before purchase.*

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.*

*If damaged in transit this policy does not apply. 

Fraud
If you are the victim of a fraudulent order please contact us and we will refund and report to Paypal/Shopify. 

Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item in accordance with the instructions sent in in your return acceptance email. 


Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
